Anxiety & Depression
While all humans will experience periods of overwhelm and sadness, it can be beneficial to seek therapy when these symptoms impact your well-being and daily life.
Depression and anxiety are two distinct but often interconnected mental health experiences.
Anxiety is characterized by excessive worry, fear, and restlessness and is often accompanied by physical symptoms like tension and uneasiness. It can lead to constant feelings of distress and overwhelm, making everyday tasks challenging.
Depression involves persistent feelings of sadness, emptiness, and low sense of self-worth. It can affect your energy levels, appetite, sleep patterns, and overall motivation, often leading to isolation and a sense of emptiness.
How I Work
When working with clients struggling with anxiety and depression, I use an integrative approach to address the unique needs of each client. One approach I use is psychodynamic therapy, which focuses on exploring unconscious patterns and unresolved conflicts that may contribute to depression and anxiety.
By gaining insight into these underlying factors, I find that clients can develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their emotions, leading to meaningful changes in their lives.
Additionally, I incorporate Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, which recognizes that our minds are composed of different parts that may hold conflicting beliefs and emotions.
By facilitating dialogue and understanding between these internal parts, I find that clients can develop internal harmony and self-compassion, reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Moreover, I use several evidence-based practices when working with clients experiencing depression and anxiety, including mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy.
Through these practices, I help my clients bring their awareness to the present moment and develop skills to manage their symptoms effectively.
